Introduction <br /> During an inspection report at the Patton Clay Mine, tamarisk(salt cedar)trees were present <br /> within an area and are becoming established. This plan will discuss how tamarisk trees will be <br /> managed around the mine site. <br /> 1.0 Purpose and Objectives of the Weed Management Plan <br /> The purpose of the noxious weed control plan is to control the spread of tamarisk trees in the <br /> area. This plan will discuss how tamarisk trees will be managed around the mine site and <br /> eradicate the tamarisk. Summit Brick Company acknowledges normal business activity may <br /> promote the spread of seeds from the tamarisk tree. This plan will assist in the eradication of the <br /> tamarisk tree. Summit Brick Company will be responsible for carrying out the methods described <br /> in this plan. The tamarisk control plan will discuss: <br /> • Control methods during mining <br /> • Control methods during reclamation <br /> • Control methods following reclamation <br /> 2.0 Mission and Direction <br /> The mission of the tamarisk control plan is to implement early detection protocols and to put <br /> practice methods in place that will monitor and minimize the spread of the tamarisk seed during <br /> mining activities. The direction that Summit Brick Company will take prior to the start of <br /> operations. Summit Brick Company will provide information and training regarding noxious <br /> weed management to its employees. Training will include identification and impacts on <br /> agriculture, livestock, and wildlife. Also, the importance of preventing the spread of tamarisk <br /> and other noxious weeds in the areas that are currently non-infested, and to control the weeds <br /> that are currently present. <br />
