Technical Memorandum *®NewFields
VLF2 Phase 2 CQA
Oversized Run-of-Mine Material Placed on April 8,2019 Perspective. Vision, Solutions.
NewFields Project No.475.0106.032
9400 Station Street
TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM suite 300
Lone Tree,CO 80124
To: Charles Bissue—CC&V T: 720.508.3300
F: 720.508.3339
From: Eric Niebler- NewFields
Reviewed By: Jay Moore - NewFields
Project: Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility (VLF2)
Project No: 475.0106.032
Subject: Oversized Run-of-Mine Material Placed on April 8, 2019
Date: April 9, 2019
On April 8, 2019, Newmont was advancing the 9850' lift with Run-of-Mine (ROM) ore towards
the perimeter slope along the Mill Platform of the Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility (VLF2) pad,
when some of the larger diameter material segregated out and came to rest at the toe of the
heap directly over the DCF. At the request of Newmont, NewFields personnel inspected the
integrity of the Drain Cover Fill (DCF) material.
Upon visual inspection of the area of concern, the DCF appears to show no signs of displacement
or movement due the impact of the large diameter ore. It is NewFields' opinion that the integrity
of the DCF and underlying geomembrane liner is still intact.
NewFields recommends that Newmont remove all the large diameter ore that is in contact with
the DCF prior to placement of additional ore in this area. Once the oversized material is removed,
the placement of ore can continue.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact the undersigned.
Sincerely,
NewFields Mining Design &Technical Services Reviewed By:
Eric Niebler Jay Janney-Moore, P.E.
Project Resident Project Manger
Attachments: Photos 1 - 3
