and IWM plans, thereby starting the cycle again. The premise behind this plan is that a structured,
logical approach to weed management, based on the best available information, is cheaper and more
effective than an ad-hoc approach where one deals with weed problems as they arise.
2. Description of the Property
A. Location
The Dellacroce Pit is a permitted sand and gravel mine. The site is located in Section 34,
Township 11 South, Range 67 West of the 6th principal Meridian in El Paso County,Colorado(Figure 1).
The site is north of Colorado Springs, CO west off 1-25 at Baptist Road exit.
Site boundaries are delineated on DRMS Exhibit F Reclamation Plan.
B. Resource Base
The Dellacroce Pit will be reclaimed to rangeland within a 680-acre ranch. The rangeland area is
intended to support cattle grazing, vegetated with seed mix provided by the Dellacroce Ranch.
3. Inventory of Weed Species
A. Inventory of Weed Species
El Paso County Community Services Department Environmental Division makes available on the
website the Noxious Weeds and Control Methods(NWCM)document(2018). This resource is hereby
incorporated into this plan by reference.
Whereas noxious weed infiltration was not noted during a recent inspection by a representative
from the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(DRMS), Pioneer will monitor the site for
noxious weed listed in the document.
B. Map of Weed Infestations
The estimated permit boundary is attached as Figure 2. The site is an active construction
material extraction site with minimal. Approximately 16 acres of the permit area are successfully
revegetated and were released by DRMS as fully reclaimed.
4. Management Goals and Weed Management Objectives for the
Property
A. Land Management Goal
In order to be released from the DRMS permit, rangeland vegetation will be established in the
permit boundary. DRMS requires establishment of approved vegetation for two growing seasons in
order to consider releasing financial surety and terminating the mining permit. Noxious weeds compete
for natural resources, threatening establishment of rangeland vegetation.
