HWY 160 # 2 <br /> Pagosa Springs, Colorado 81147 <br /> Dear Mr. Brown: <br /> We are responding to your request for a Department of the Army permit for the Wolf <br /> Creek Enhancement at Bootjack Ranch. This project involves activities, including discharges <br /> of dredged or fill material, in waters of the United States to construct grade control and bank <br /> stabilization structures. This site is located within Wolf Creek in Section 20, Township 37, <br /> Range 1, NMP&M, Latitude 370 26-}-1.39 ,l ongitude 1060 53429.0 Mineral County, <br /> Colorado. <br /> Based on the information you provided, the proposed activity is authorized by <br /> Nationwide Permit Number 27. Your work must comply with the general terms and <br /> conditions fisted on the enclosed Nationwide Permit information sheets and the following <br /> special conditions: <br /> 1) The proposed project shall not cause additional degradation to Wolf Creek or the <br /> San Juan River. If the Corps Durango Office determines that river degradation, such <br /> as sedimentation, erosion, decrease of water quality, etc..., has occurred as a result of <br /> your project, you will be required to initiate approved corrective measures to reduce <br /> and prevent further degradation from occurring. <br /> 2) You shall implement appropriate best management practices to insure that the <br /> project causes minimal disturbances to the aquatic resources. Banks shall be <br /> stabilized with material that will not erode under expected highflows. You shall plant <br /> and maintain regionally appropriate native riparian trees at a 1:1 replacement ratio <br /> along the affected reach of Wolf Creek, to mitigate project impacts to the aquatic <br /> resource and associated habitat. Willows, oaks, alders, and/or cottonwoods shall be <br /> planted to shade the entire stream reach. Bank stabilization areas using rock or <br /> boulders must also be planted with native trees to insure long-term survival of these <br /> trees. <br /> 3) You shall have a biologist, who is familiar with the function of riparian and <br /> 33 <br /> 0 3/2 812 0 1 9 <br />
