Keenesburg Mine 2018 Vegetation Monitoring Report
The cheatgrass infestation that has plagued most of these Reclamation Areas in past years has
been largely mitigated. While some of the reclamation areas have not achieved the levels of
vegetation cover and production necessary for bond release, there is a trend towards greater
cover of desirable perennial grass species overall.
Table 25: Success Standard Summary
Reclamation
Standard
Phase II Monitoring
Phase III
Monitorin
Area
25
Area
30
Area
31
Area
32
Area
33
Area
34
Area
29
Area
30
Area
31
Vegetation Cover
No
No
Yes
Yes
Yes
No
Yes
No
Yes
Herbaceous
Production
n/a
No
Yes
No
Species Composition
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
No
No
No
Eligible for Release
No
No
Yes
Yes
Yes
No I
No
No I
No
9 LITERATURE CITED
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DRMS). 1995.
