Keenesburg Mine 2018 Vegetation Monitoring Report
There were 16 perennial species and eight annual species. Both warm and cool season grass
species contributed to the cover including six warm season perennial species, three cool season
perennial species, one warm season annual species, and two cool season annual species
The allowable vegetation cover did not pass the technical standard when subjected to hypothesis
testing (Table 13). Nine perennial warm season grasses and four perennial cool season grasses
were observed along the transects which does meet the Phase II bond release success criteria.
However, only two warm season perennial species and one cool season perennial species
contributed greater than 3% and less than 40% of the non -noxious relative cover.
Table 12: Reclamation Area 34 Species Composition
Table 13: Reclamation Area 34 Success Criteria
Cover
90%
Life Form
Data
Present
Graminoids
Criteria
Perennial
9
13
Annual
3
5
Native
11
17
Introduced
1
1
Cool Season
5
6
Warm Season
7
12
Total
12
18
Forbs
Perennial
0
2
Annual
0
3
Native
0
4
Introduced
0
1
Total
0
5
Woody Plants
1
1
Total Species
13
24
Table 13: Reclamation Area 34 Success Criteria
6.2 Phase III Reclamation Monitoring
Reclamation Areas 29 (including the former Reclamation Area 23), 30, and 31 were monitored
for Phase III bond release.
