Surface Water
Table 8 in Appendix A lists pertinent information on all NPDES, stream,
and spring monitoring sites at the PSCM. The PSCM surface water plan is
summarized on Table 2.04.7-T11 (page 2.04-107, Vol. 1 of the PSCM PAP).
All NPDES Discharge Points are monitored monthly for field parameters
(flow, temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity) and NPDES lab
parameters. Stream Monitoring Sites SSG1, SSG2 and SSLG5 are sampled
three times a year for field parameters and full -suite water quality.
The first sample of the year is collected during the spring runoff
(March or April), the second sample is collected after the spring runoff
(May or June), and the third sample is collected during base flow
conditions (September). Lab samples collected at all these sites were
analyzed using the surface water parameter lists shown on Table 9 and 9A
in Appendix A. At the PSCM, there are seven spoil springs that are
monitored for field parameters and lab samples in the spring season.
Surface water quality data are presented in Appendix D. Data for each
site begins with a flow hydrograph of all historic data (plus an annual
hydrograph for NPDES sites), followed by a listing of individual water
quality and quantity data for the current water year, remarks and a TDS
regression plot using the LOWESS method (see Ground Water Quality
section). Lab samples are handled identically to procedures discussed
previously in the Ground Water Quality section.
For the sake of brevity, the prefix that precedes all surface water site
names will often be dropped throughout the following text. As an
example, Site SSLG5 may be referred to as Site 5.
Hydrographs are presented in Appendix D. The hydrographs for NPDES sites
consist of two parts; the first displaying historic data, while the
second shows the past year.
Fish Creek Drainage.
Two PSCM monitoring sites exist within the Fish Creek drainage: NPDES4
(aka, Pond 004) and SSC10 are located on Cow Camp Creek.
11
