Eco- Rx, Inc.
Noxious Weed / Vegetation Management
970.433.5850, EcoRx@aol.com
Virginia Acres Revegetation Estimate FY 2019
Prepared by Paul Schreiner
Virginia Acres Pit has been previously revegetated with native grasses and the efforts
have previously failed to produce the desired results. In an effort to establish meaningful
growth of desirable plant species the following"salt/alkali tolerant"seed mixed was
offered by Arkansas Valley Seed.
Seed w/Species Variety % of Mix Lbs.PLS/A Unit Cost
Per PLS
AC Saltlander,Wheat ass 15 4.41 $12.00
Meadow Foxtail(Coated),Garrison 15 1.11 $4.35
Tall Wheat ass,Jose 20 9.21 $4.07
Forage Perennial R e rass,Fusta 20 9.42 $1.60
Forage Tall Fescue,Fawn 20 9.88 $1.90
Sainfoil, Shoshone 10 8.95 $1.70
100 % 42.98 PLS $25.62
In an effort to increase species diversity for the proposed revegetation mix Smooth
Brome was replaced with Sainfoil. Sainfoil is a nitrogen fixing legume which offers soil
building properties along with good forage for wildlife.
The total area to be reseeded is approximately 3.37 acres. For this proposal it is assumed
that there will be areas of overlap that are not required to be revegetated but will be
involved in the reseeding effort resulting in 3.5 acres of reseeded ground.
The reseeding process will be implemented in three stages. The first will involve
harrowing the area prior to broadcast application of the seed. This breaks up previously
compacted soils and readies the seed bed for good seed to soil contact.
The second stage will be broadcasting the seed with a calibrated spreader to ensure the
proper amount of seed supply is delivered to the area.
The third step will be lightly covering the seed with a raking/bedding implement to
ensure good seed to soil contact and to help mitigate predation of the newly planted seed.
