PERMIT#: M-1999-089
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE:February 22,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Weathers Mine#1, a 9.9 acre 110c sand and gravel permit,
conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS met operator Byron Weathers on-site, and observed the site at
approximately 14:30. The site identification sign and permit boundary markers were present as required, and
the site was in good condition and in compliance at the time of the inspection.
The eastern part of the permit is almost mined out and contains primarily topsoil and product stockpiles. The
recent excavation activity has been entirely in the western side of the permit area.
The operator should use caution and not extend the existing disturbance any further to the south or east—the
existing disturbance is very close to the permit boundary in these areas.
The Division would like to take this opportunity to encourage concurrent reclamation at this site whenever
possible. The site is currently surrounded by excellent natural grasses. If areas where mining is completed are
appropriately re-sloped and top-soiled when completed, natural reseeding from the surrounding areas will
contribute significantly to the reclamation effort. Concurrent reclamation will also minimize the bond required
for the site, and allow the site to be released in a much shorter time when miningis s completed.
No issues were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Byron Weathers
11955 CR 37
Yuma, CO 80759
