(8) Piles of vegetation:
There will be no piles of vegetation or trees on site. Any shrubs which need to be removed
will either betaken toan approved landfill, or replanted on another reclaimed phase.
3.1.10 Revegetation:
(1) Establishment of a diverse, effective and long lasting vegetative cover that is
capable of self-regeneration without continued maintenance:
The regraded pit floor and side slopes will be seeded and stabilized according the seed mix
found in this permit application.
(2) Tree establishment:
No tree planting is proposed.
(3) Establishment of rangeland:
The proposed seed mix is designed to return the mined land to a post mining land use of
rangeland.
(4) Consideration of environmental and biological factors in the Reclamation
Plan:
Since the post mining land use is rangeland, the primary goals of the revegetation plan are
to ensure site erosion control and stability and to provide food for domestic livestock.
These goals maybe met through a combination of physical and biological measures. The
NRCS will be consulted to ensure that these goals are met.
(5) Ensure the establishment of a diverse and long-lasting vegetative cover:
In those areas where revegetation will occur, the site will be prepared to providc the best
chance for the selected plant species becoming established. Following is what is typically
recommended by a local NRCS Field Office in order ensure seeding success:
(6) Seedbed Preparation:
The seedbed should be wel I settled and firm, but friable enough thatthe seed can be
drilled at the recommended depth. Soi Is having been compacted by traffic orother
equipment should betiIled(deep-chiseled or ripped if necessary)breaking up restrictive or
compacted layers, and then harrowed and rolled or packed to produce the required firm
seedbed. If the seed into be broadcast seeded.then the seedbed should be settled and
fairlyfirm, butleft rough enough to catch the seed and allow some coverage by soil
when tracked in by equipment or harrowed and packed into the soil surface.Avoid
seedbed preparation when
