PERMIT#:M-2018-060
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: February 19,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operation inspection conducted for the Tollgate Pit, DRMS file M2018-060. This inspection was
conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS, who met with Dan Clark of Bucklen Services (permittee) and Katy Bilisoly
(consultant) on site at 0930. The proposed permit is a 60 acre 112c sand and gravel operation located on the
NE corner of"0 Street" and 83rd Ave near Greeley CO. This property was previously permitted by Aggregate
Industries, but was released prior to any mining activity.
The notice of permit applied for sign was present, and the permit boundary is defined by existing fencing-
with the exception of the NW corner where an additional boundary marker will be needed. DRMS also
recommends that the utility corridor that is present along the west side of the site be marked at this time so
that mining activity does not encroach on the 50' ROW of the overhead power lines, and buried gas lines in
that area. No excavation is planned for the SW corner of the permit, as that area will be used to stockpile
topsoil and overburden. All mining activity will be conducted within the area to be contained within the slurry
wall which was marked with lath during this inspection. The slurry wall will be installed and certified prior to
mining activity, so there should be very little chance of adverse impacts to groundwater or geotechnical
stability of nearby features and utilities.
The site is currently used to graze cattle and existing vegetation was in a poor/over-grazed state at the time of
this inspection. Conditions and features on site and on adjacent properties matched the description provided
in the submitted application. No other issues were noted during this pre-op inspection, and no comments or
objections were received during the public comment period. DRMS will approve the permit as soon as all
adequacy issues are resolved and the bond amount has been finalized.
Inspection Contact Address
Dan Clark
Bucklen Services Company,Inc.
804 North 25th Avenue
Greeley,CO 80631
