PERMIT#: M-1976-007-UG
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: February 13,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Golden Mine, a 9.0 acre 110c clay mine, conducted by Eric Scott of
DRMS. DRMS followed permittee representative Robert Tibbets to the site entrance at 09:50 AM and entered the site
as far as the snowy conditions would allow—up to the equipment parking area, and location of the working face and
product stockpile (Photos 3-4).
Although it was noted that the site identification sign was present at the site entrance (Photos 1 and 2) some of the
permit boundary markers were either missing or unable to be located. These markers will need to be replaced in the
proper locations to delineate the 9.0 ac permit boundary and should be easily locatable/visible in the field. As stated on
the first page of the report the operator will need to provide proof to the Division that this has been done by the
corrective action date of March 29, 2019.
It was also noted that noxious weed species such as knapweed were present on site. The operator should implement the
weed control plan as needed to eliminate the presence of listed noxious species from the permit area.
There was no mining activity taking place during the inspection, and the product stockpile is remaining on site at the foot
of the working face (Photo 3). The annual report for the site submitted on September 13, 2018 states that the last date
of active mining at the site was in September of 2018. DRMS will remind the permittee at this time if mining does not
resume in 2019,that reclamation activities shall be completed within 5 years of the end of mining.
No other issues were noted during this inspection.
GENERAL INSPECTION TOPICS
The following list identifies the environmental and permit parameters inspected and gives a categorical evaluation of each
(AR)RECORDS-----------------------------------Y (FN)FINANCIAL WARRANTY-------- Y (RD)ROADS------------------NA
(HB) HYDROLOGIC BALANCE-------------Y (BG)BACKFILL& GRADING----------NA (EX)EXPLOSIVES--------- NA
(PW) PROCESSING WASTE/TAILING---- NA (SF)PROCESSING FACILITIES------- NA (TS)TOPSOIL----------------NA
(MP)GENL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE- Y (FW)FISH&WILDLIFE----------------- NA (RV)REVEGETATION---- NA
(SM)SIGNS AND MARKERS----------------- PB (SP)STORM WATER MGT PLAN---- NA (RS)RECL PLAN/COMP--NA
(ES)OVERBURDEN/DEV.WASTE--------- NA (SC)EROSION/SEDIMENTATION--- NA (ST) STIPULATIONS-------NA
(AT)ACID OR TOXIC MATERIALS------- NA (OD)OFF-SITE DAMAGE----------------NA
Y=Inspected and found in compliance/N=Not inspected/NA=Not applicable to this operation/PB=Problem cited/PV=Possible violation cited
Inspection Contact Address
Robert Tibbetts
The Denver Brick Company
401 Prairie Hawk Dr.
Castle Rock, CO 80104
