PERMIT#: M-2004-009
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: February 12,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by Eric Scott of CDRMS. DRMS met with Greg Geras and
David King of Asphalt Specialties at the site at approximately 0840. The site entrance is located off the north
side of Hwy 52 immediately east of the county line between Boulder and Weld counties. The site identification
sign was located at the entrance gate (Photo 1).
No mining was taking place during this inspection, but backfill activity was occurring in Cell 2A (see Photos 3
and 4). Most of Cells 2B and 2C have been mined and backfilled, but still need topsoil and revegetation. The
gravel plant was in the process of being maintained in Cell 3 where it will be set up for future mining. Mining
activity has not yet begun in Cells 3, 4 and 5.
The only issue noted during the inspection was that the revegetation in the reclaimed area of Cell 1 (SE of water
treatment plant) will need to be better maintained in order to achieve reclamation standards. Although some
grasses were present, it appeared that the majority of the cover at this time consisted of weedy species (Russian
thistle and kochia). Mowing and weed control will need to be implemented in this area until the reclamation
vegetation is established.
The operator will also need to be mindful of the required 100' setback that is required to be maintained from
Boulder Creek during future operations.
No other issues or concerns were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Greg Geras
Asphalt Specialties Co., Inc.
10100 Dallas St.
Henderson, CO 80640
