Dear Dustin:
Please allow this letter to serve as continued response to the December 11, 2018 State
Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) letter received by the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety (DRMS) in the form of a proposed addendum to the original October
2018 permit application file. Changes are made to Exhibit D —Mining Plan, Exhibit E —
Reclamation Plan, and Maps C-1, CO2, and F-1.
Dustin Czapla of the DRMS forwarded the December 11, 2018 SHPO response letter and
instructed the Applicant of the Box Creek Placer Mine to reach an agreement with SHPO
prior to initiation of mining on the site. The December 31, 2018 DRMS letter addressed to
Mindy Miller detailing comments received from SHPO regarding the Box Creek Placer
Mine Permit Application is discoverable on DRMS laserfiche.
The December 11, 2018 letter from SHPO to the DRMS explains that the Box Creek
Placer Mine site holds a National and State Register site —the Derry Mining Site
(5LK1341) and expressed concern that the proposed mining project would adversely affect
the site. However, the letter further details that an agreement may be reached between the
agency (DRMS and Titan Au) and the society on how to mitigate potential adverse effects
[8 CCR 1504-7 Section 10 B(3)c]. Continued conversation between Jason O'Brien of
SHPO, Dustin Czapla of the DRMS, and myself on February 7, 2019 yielded an agreement
outlined below to ensure no adverse effects will occur within the SHPO boundary as a
result of the proposed mining effort. Changes to the originally received DRMS application
on October 11, 2018 are as follows.
