' EXHIBIT K- Climate <br /> ' Climate for the region is mild and semi-arid. Average annual precipitation at the Rocky Flats Plant site, <br /> located about 2 1/4 miles southeast of the quarry site, is approximately 15 inches (U.S. Department of <br /> Energy, 1980). <br /> ' The 100-year, 24-hour maximum precipitation event for the area is estimated at 5.1 inches of rainfall <br /> (NOAA, 1973). The 100-year maximum intensity (thunderstorm) event is estimated to produce 6.5 <br /> ' inches per hour for 12 minutes, or 1.3 inches total rainfall (NOAA, 1973). <br /> Climatology data recorded at Boulder, Colorado, about 6 1/2 miles north of the site, indicate a monthly <br /> ' mean temperature of 52.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
