The reports were received via email on November 21, 2018 (October report),
December 3, 2018 (November report) and January 7, 20I9 (December and quarterly
reports). The reports cover the time period of October 1, 2018 through December 31,
2018. The Division finds the reports to be in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2).
There are three outfalls associated with the CO -0038342 DMR permit, Outfall 001,
Outfall 002 and Outfall 004. During the month of October, a large storm event in the
area of the mine occurred. Outfalls 001 and 004 recorded discharges. Outfall 002 did not
record discharging in October. Outfall 001 exceeded the limits for Total Recoverable
Iron and TSS (Total Suspended Solids). Outfall 004 recorded an exceedance of Total
Recoverable Iron. No other exceedances were recorded. Outfalls 001, 002 and 004
reported no discharge in the months of November and December. The operator expanded
the sumps up gradient of the outfalls to allow for lengthened settling times before runoff
reaches the outfalls.
This concludes the Division's review of the 4'h Quarter 2018 Discharge Monitoring
Reports for the McClave Canyon Mine. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free
to contact me.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us
Jared Polis, Governor I Virginia Brannon, Director
d:Olo
I E
* 1876
