Goforth Stock Pond (SP1)
SPI is located in the northeastern quarter of Section 6, of T46N, R15W and was a previously
unnamed, pre -mine stock pond that will be reconstructed in the post -mine topography. The
surface landowner (Lester Goforth) has requested the stock pond be replaced to provide a post -
mine watering location for livestock.
The watershed that drains to SP1 contains surface runoff and seasonal irrigation water.
Additionally, the watershed contributing to SP 1 does not contain water from any mining related
disturbance areas and SPI is located north of the mining related disturbances. Finally, the
majority of the watershed contributing to SP1 is located outside the permit area. The design
specifications for SPI are shown on Map 2.05.3(3)-38. The design of SPI is based upon the
dimensions of the pre -mine unnamed stock pond with the top of embankment and overall stock
pond footprint being generally the same. The volume of the pre -mine stock pond was
approximately 1.5 acre-feet at the top of the embankment and the volume of SP1 is 2.3 acre-feet
at the top of the embankment.
Topsoil removal will include removal of the topsoil within the SP1 footprint. Additional
excavation within the pond footprint will also occur and this material will be utilized for
embankment construction. During the final stages of construction, the topsoil will be utilized to
reclaim the embankment and SPI footprint. The area where topsoil is redistributed will be
vegetated in accordance with Section 2.05.4(2)(e). The construction of SP1 will take place under
the direction of a professional engineer and upon completion a certified as -built drawing will be
submitted to the Division. A copy of the letter from the surface landowner has been provided
which consents with the location and design of SP 1.
Attachment 2.05.3(3)-38 Page 1 October 2018 (TR -86)
