7.0 OTHER STUDIES
FIRMS were previously published for the Towns of Granada and Wiley (References 21
and 22), the City of Lamar (Reference 23), and the unincorporated areas of Prowers
County (Reference 24), and a Flood Insurance Study was published for the City of Lamar
(Reference 25). Information shown on those maps and study, where still applicable, are
in exact agreement with this FIRM and FIS. This FIRM and FIS compiles and partially
supersedes the previously published FIRMS and FIS, and the technical data referenced
therein, with new technical data as described in Sections 2 and 3 of this FIS.
A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report (Reference 1) was used to determine peak flows
at the City of Lamar.
"Special Flood-Hazard Information, Arkansas River and Tributaries, Great Bend, Kansas
to John Martin Dam, Colorado," was prepared by the Albuquerque District, Corps of
Engineers, dated June 1974, (Reference 26). This study was designated by the Colorado
Water Conservation Board on February 26, 1975.
A Flood Hazard Boundary Map (FHBM) was published for Prowers County (Reference
27). The FHBM was later converted to a FIRM by means of a letter. In some areas
information shown on this FIRM has been superseded due to the more detailed analyses
performed for these areas.
An FHBM was published for the Town of Granada(Reference 28). This FHBM was later
superseded by a FIRM. In some areas information shown on this FIRM has been
superseded due to the more detailed analyses performed for these areas.
An FHBM was published for the Town of Holly (Reference 29). This FHBM was later
rescinded by FEMA.
An FHBM was published for the City of Lamar (Reference 30). This FHBM was later
superseded by a Flood Boundary and Floodway Map (FBFM) (Reference 31) and a
FIRM. In some areas the previously updated information has been superseded due to the
more detailed analyses performed for these areas.
This report either supersedes or is compatible with all previous studies published on
streams studied in this report and should be considered authoritative for the purposes of
the NFIP.
8.0 LOCATION OF DATA
Information concerning the pertinent data used in the preparation of this study can be
obtained by contacting FEMA, Mitigation Division, Denver Federal Center, Building
710, P.O. Box 25267, Denver, Colorado 80225-0267.
20
