Reduce Hydrologic Monitoring

Dear Ms. Dorsey:

The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34,
Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 26, 2018
an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 1 Mine was considered complete
for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources, LLC. All review and
comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.

This revision proposes to reduce water quality monitoring at two surface water sites and eight
groundwater wells. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the
area currently approved for disturbance.

The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles North of Paonia.
The permit area is further described as follows:

In all or portions of the following:
Sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, and 25 Township 13 South, Range 92 West of
the 6th P.M. and
Sections 17, 18, 19, 29, 30, 31, and 32 of Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.

The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle
map(s): Gray Reservoir, Bowie.
