Townsend Ave. <br />Montrose, CO 81401 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) <br /> Technical Revision No. 87 (TR-87) <br /> Pond 013 Erosion Protection Inlet <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Montrose County Commissioners: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 21, 2018 <br />an application to revise coal mining operations at the New Horizon Mine was considered complete <br />for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, <br />LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from <br />this date of filing. <br /> <br />TR87 is proposing construction of an erosion protection inlet into Pond 13 to accommodate trench <br />drain discharge into the pond. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance <br />outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, <br />Colorado.
