PERMIT#:M-2015-045
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: December 3,2018
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operation inspection for the Weld County Peters 313 Pit 112c permit amendment(AMO1). Weld County
is adding 66.7 acres to it's existing 80 acre permit at this location. The site is located in Section 26, Township 12N
and Range 63W, and will be accessed from the south side of County Road 136.5. Photos of the site
identification sign and notice of amendment applied for have been attached to this report. DRMS met with Weld
County representative Devon Traff at the site, toured the existing permit area, and inspected the permit boundary markers
for the existing permit and proposed amendment area.
All current activity at the site appears to be in compliance with the approved mining plan. There is a marked topsoil
stockpile located near the entrace to the permit, and a stockpile of material to be processed south and east of the topsoil
pile. The boundary markers (steel T-posts)for the original permit and the amendment area are in place.
DRMS noted that the marked boundary maintains a 200 foot buffer area between the proposed permit boundary and an
existing gas and oil tank farm located along the western boundary as discussed in the amendment application. However
the overhead utility lines that parallel the western boundary of the amendment area are not shown on any of the existing
maps or identified in the existing Exhibit S for the existing permit or amendment.
Weld county will need to identify and add this overhead utility to the appropriate maps for the site, and obtain a damage
waiver agreement from the overhead line owners prior to approval of the amendment. Weld county may also commit to
not conducting any mining activity within 200' of the overhead line until a damage waiver agreement has been executed,
however, this would become an enforceable provision of the approved permit amendment.
DRMS would also advise that Weld County place additional markers along the east side of the AMO1 area so that line of
sight can be maintained between markers while in the field.
No other issues were noted during the inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Devon Traff
Weld County Public Works
PO Box 758
Greeley, CO 80632
