' COLORADO
Division of Water Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821
Denver, CO 80203
Response to 110(2) Hard Rock Reclamation Permit Application
DATE: October 2, 2018
TO: Elliott R. Russell, Environmental Protection Specialist (elliott.russeltCstate.co.us)
CC: Division 1 Office, District 23 Water Commissioner
FROM: Colin Watson, P.E.
RE: Ten Percenter Claim, File No. M-2018-036
Applicant/Operator: ZyMin Corporation, (719)634-2384
Section 2, Twp 12 South, Rng 71 West, 6th P.M., Teller County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
® The proposed operation does not anticipate exposing groundwater. Therefore, exposure of ground
water must not occur during or after mining operations.
® The applicant will need to document that any water used at the site was obtained from a legal source,
or was diverted in priority under a water right decreed for such mining/industrial use.
® If stormwater runoff is intercepted by this operation and is not diverted or captured in priority, it must
be released to the stream system within 72 hours. Otherwise, the operator must make replacements
for evaporation.
COMMENTS: The Ten Percenter Claim is located approximately 6 miles northeast of the town of Lake George,
Colorado. The affected area for the surface mining operation wilt be approximately 9.1 acres in size and the
primary commodities to be mined will be Amazonite, Smoky Quartz, Cleavlandite and Columbite/Tantalite.
No processing of mineral specimens will take place on site and water consumption is estimated to be up to 20
gallons per person per day and will be used for personal consumption, debris removal and to wash specimens
for evaluation. All water will be supplied from potable municipal sources.
The depth to groundwater at the site is estimated to be 15 feet and excavations will not reach this depth so no
groundwater will be exposed. If stormwater runoff is intercepted by this operation and is not diverted or
captured in priority, it must either infiltrate into the ground or be discharged to the stream system within 72
hours. If this does not occur the operator must make replacements for evaporation.
Based on the above, this office has no concerns regarding the proposed mining operation. The applicant may
contact the State Engineer's Office with any questions.
71
,.
131 3 Sherman Street, Room 821. Denve,.
