The proposed pit will lie immediately south of the underground openings of the Rose Red
Quarry(Figures 2 and 3). It is anticipated to be approximately square with a 350 feet wide width
in the East-West direction and approximately 700 feet long in the North-South direction.
Currently, a small drill and blast excavation area is situated at the south end of this area, the
product of the I I I c permit(Figure 3). A granite waste spoil pile is located directly south of the
underground workings and processing area to the north and is approximately 400 feet wide east-
west and 150 feet wide north-south. Outcrops of granite are abundant below this waste rock area
with only minimum soil and sporadic rangeland and Ponderosa Pine vegetation. As shown in
Figure 4, a dirt road passes the proposed pit on the South end next to the historic small
excavation.
Current Rose Red
HistoricUnderground Quarry
Workings
Spoil Pie
Proposed
Pit k
rea
111c Area
Core Hole
•
Locations
if Feet
Figure 4.
