EXHIBIT D
' MINING PLAN
' The land within the existing mining operation is owned by Orrlando LLC (Orrlando). Orrlando has
entered into a lease with the Bucklen Services Company for the purpose of mining aggregate onsite. The
proposed permit boundary of approximately 60 acres is displayed in Exhibit B Vicinity Map, with mining
' activities anticipated to disturb approximately 25 acres of the site. The remaining unmined acres will be
used as sites for overburden and topsoil stockpiles, offsets from existing structures, property lines and
waterways and internal access.
' Geologic mapping by Hershey and Schneider(1972)indicates that the parcel to be mined is on one
alluvial deposit of the Valley Fill alluvium north of the Cache La Poudre River. Specifically, the site is a
' higher terrace deposit which contains arkosic gravel and sand with some loosely cemented sand and
gravel. Boring data, included in Exhibit S,indicates that bedrock is located at approximately 40 feet
below the ground surface.
The primary commodity to be mined is aggregate. The secondary commodity would be clean fill dirt, but
it has not been determined if this will be sold. Aggregate will be sold off of Bucklen Services Company's
' sale yard.
Methods of Mining
' Access to the site will be located in the southeast portion of the site, off O Street. The entrance will
consist of a 150 feet long, 24 feet wide paved road. This road will also include a turn radius that will
1 assist semi-trucks turning left and heading east bound on O Street.
At any one time, the active mining area will include the entire mine boundary, encompassing 25 acres.
1 The area will be worked on in a single phase, but will have three layers. The entire mine boundary will
have topsoil stripped off, followed by the overburden, and finishing with the extraction of gravel to a
depth of approximately 12 feet. This process will begin in the southeast and move towards the north on
the site.
Topsoil will be moved by scraper or excavator and dump truck to the southwest corner of the property
where it will be stockpiled(see Exhibit C Mining Plan Map). A bridge or culvert crossing over the Strom
Lake Drainage Ditch will be necessary to get heavy equipment across to the stockpile location; the
crossing will be constructed so as not to impede flow in the drainage ditch. There is approximately 40,000
' CY of topsoil on site. Approximately 2,000 CY will be stockpiled a day, until all topsoil has been moved
to stockpile area. The 40,000 CY of stocked topsoil will remain on site and will be maintained in place
through equally distributed mechanical compaction; no chemicals will be used. If necessary, stockpiles
' will be seeded to protect against wind and water erosion and be incorporated into a weed control program.
Overburden will be moved by scraper or excavator and dumb trucks to the stockpile area, southwest of
' the mining area, as well.No dragline will be used in this process. Onsite, there is approximately, 302,000
to 444,000 CY of overburden, which will be stockpiled at a rate of 2,000 CY a day. Most of this stockpile
will remain on-hand to be used for reclamation activities, while a small portion may be sold off.
Tollgate Pit
DRMS 112 Permit Application
' Page D-1
