about 50 semi -truck loads of dirt. If in a single conical pile it would be approximately 180 feet in
diameter 81 feet high.
As previously noted, the gully along the east side of County Road 92 was carefully surveyed in 2015
utilizing the same method as the current survey. The calculated volume lost in the 2015 survey was
7939 yd 3; the calculated volume lost in the 2018 survey is 8712 yd 3. In the last three years 773 yd were
lost from just this one gully.
Photo 2. Giant gully, on east side of County Road 92, is over 20 feet deep and 40 feet wide.
There are 201 significant gullies within the entire affected 100 acres. Chen's Hill has the greatest
number of gullies per acre with 71 total significant gullies and an average spacing of one gully every
forty horizontal feet. The largest gully in the East Pit has lost 1386 yd'. There are about 30 gullies that
are too wide and deep to jump across or climb down and back up when walking across the side slope.
Many of these are large enough to prevent crossing by wildlife and livestock.
