3.1.2 Reclaiming Substituted Land:
The Applicant/Operator does not intend to substitute other land for reclamation.
3.1.3 Time Limit and Phased Reclamation:
Reclamation will be done in phases as discussed in section 6.4.5(2) (a)above and Table 1.
3.1.4 Public use:
The mine site is private land owned by the Town of Limon. The Town of Limon has no intent to
allow public use of the land during mining and site reclamation.
3.1.5 Reclamation Measures—Materials Handling:
(1) Grading:
Little site grading will be needed since the intent is to final mine the pits slopes at 3H:1 V. Also,
please see 3.1.5(3)below.
(2) Backfilling:
We do not expect there will be slopes needing backfill. The intent is to final mine all slopes as
stated in 3.1.5 (1)above. We will have an overburden stockpile that will be available for
backfilling slopes or transported off-site as needed. We anticipate an overburden stockpile of
approximately 2,000 cubic yards.
(3) All grading shall be done in a manner to control erosion and siltation of the
affected lands,to protect areas outside the affected land from slides and other damage:
The practice of mining the slopes to the final grade, into undisturbed ground, tends to minimize
slope erosion and failure. Therefore, the potential for off-site slope failure or erosion should be
minimal.
The pit floors will be final graded at approximately 1.5 %or less away from the toe of the final
slopes, toward the nearest drainage. This will ensure no ponding of rain or snow melt, yet prevent
excessive site erosion.
(4) The Operator shall establish reasonable timetables consistent with good mining
and reclamation Procedures:
We believe the mining and reclamation phases (timetable)discussed above will reduce the
potential for the reclaimed areas being re-disturbed.
28
