Overgrowth of weeds will inhibit good native vegetation.
Control and/or kill noxious and nuisance weeds inside mine permit boundary.
Herbicide treatments include spot spraying from backpacks and spray rig equipment.
Treatments will involve the application of herbicides using best management practices
and applications will be recorded for reporting purposes. All records will be provided to
BLM and Mayne Block and Stone Company. Compliance is the goal after application.
10
Dotsero Quarry Mine Permit Boundary M-1987-074- Please see mine map.
Treatments will target noxious weeds growing within the mine permit boundary.
The site contains no water and is mostly infested with annual weeds. Treatments
will focus on the reclamation area and disturbed areas. Applications will target
species when they are most susceptible to herbicide treatments. The treatment
area will be posted with flags to give notice to the public after the application.
Prior to application Habitat Management checked the EPA Endangered Species
Bulletin and found no active restrictions for herbicide inside the mine permit boundary.
Spot Spraying will be the application method by trained qualified supervisors and
and applicators. This will reduce the risk of potential drift that may cause harm to
non-targeted species. All applications will follow state and federal laws. Applications
will be made when weather and environmental conditions are favorable at the site.
Spill Kits will be on-site and herbicides will be kept locked in a secondary container.
