Randall, Executive Director | Virginia Brannon, Director 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 October 30, 2018 Office of Archaeology & Historic Preservation History Colorado Center 1200 Broadway Denver, CO 80203 Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) Technical Revision No. 86 (TR-86) Goforth Stock Pond Dear Sir or Madam: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on October 30, 2018 an application to revise coal mining operations at the New Horizon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. TR-86 is proposing to re-construct a stock pond on the Goforth property. The pond existed prior to mining and is being re-constructed at the request of the landowner. The pond is not designed for sediment control and it will it not be used for sediment control or in support of any other mining activity. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, Colorado.
