Response:
There are 4,840 sq. yds. in one acre. 4,840 sq. yds. X .1667 yards (6") deep of soil equals
806.8 cyds. 806.8 cyds. X 3.8 acres, equals 3,065.9 cyds. of topsoil.
We have revised the application pages to reflect this correction.
3) Under section (b), the applicant estimates a total of 7,251 cubic yards of topsoil
will be required to replace 6 inches across 26.95 acres. However, the Division
estimates a total of 21,740 cubic yards of topsoil will be required. Please explain
and/or correct this discrepancy.
Response:
There are 4,840 sq. yds. in one acre. 4,840 sq. yds. X 0.1667 — 806.8 cyds. of plant
growth material per acre. 26.95 acres X 806.8 cyds. of plant growth materials =
21,702.9 cyds. of plant growth material needed for reclamation. Available plant growth
material equals approximately 6,454. Approximately 21,703 cyds. of plant growth
material is needed for reclamation and 6,454 cyds. of plant growth material is available.
Therefore, 15,249 cyds. of plant growth material must either be imported and/or
developed on site. Sources of plant growth material may not be available locally.
However, if there is an opportunity to import material from the construction site, SEMA
will notify the DRMS and get DRMS direction as to what information the DRMS
requires in order to authorize SEMA to import plant growth material to the proposed
borrow site.
We have revised the application pages to reflect this correction.
4) Under section (b), the applicant estimates approximately 5,100 cubic yards of
topsoil may need to be imported for reclamation. However, the Division
estimates a total of 15,287 cubic yards of topsoil may need to be imported for
reclamation, given the estimated availability of 6,453 cubic yards of topsoil on
site and the proposed replacement depth of 6 inches. Please explain andi"or
correct the discrepancy.
Response:
Approximately 21,703 cyds, of plant growth material is needed for reclamation and 6,454
cyds. of plant growth material is available.
