Lamb Lakes Site <br /> The western most boundary of the Cache la Poudre basin originates at the Continental Divide in <br /> Rocky Mountain National Park and drains east through the Rocky Mountain Front Range <br /> foothills and into the relatively flat topography of eastern Larimer County. The Cache la Poudre <br /> River alluvium is reported to be fairly consistent on and near the site, generally ranging near 20 <br /> feet in thickness (Robson 2000). <br /> The Quaternary age valley fill is composed of sand and gravel deposits of the Piney Creek and <br /> Post Piney Creek alluvium laid down by the river (Robson 2000). Drill logs from the property <br /> indicate that the alluvium is consistently between 15 and 25 feet thick and consists of <br /> unconsolidated clay, silt, sand, and gravel. The Cache la Poudre alluvium is underlain by <br /> relatively impermeable Pierre Shale bedrock of Cretaceous age. The shale is a thick sequence of <br /> clayey to silty marine shales containing fossils and local beds of limestone. Where not <br /> previously disturbed by mining or other activities, the alluvial deposits are covered by up to three <br /> Oblue earth Page 2 of 12 <br /> SOLUTIONS <br />
