EXHIBIT H WILDLIFE INFORMATION
1. Significant Game Resources on the Affected Lands
Mule deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, and Canada goose represent game resources in this area. The
current landscape offers very little ground cover that is useful for deer and other small mammals.
Migratory waterfowl are observed seasonally on-site.
2. Significant Non-Game Resources on the Affected Lands
Fox, mountain lion, black bear, coyote, cottontail rabbit, jack rabbit, and various nongame birds
and rodents are collectively the most critical non-game resource in this area. There is very little
ground cover and no water available; therefore, the value of the site for mammals is extremely
limited. The ephemeral nature of many water bodies on site makes the presence of reptile and
amphibian species highly variable and extremely rare. Raptors such as red-tailed hawks, golden
eagles, prairie falcons and kestrels are observed on-site.No Bald eagles or their nests are present
on-site.
3. Seasonal Use of Affected Lands
No important seasonal use exists on-site.
4. Presence and Estimated Population of Threatened or Endangered Species in the
Area.
No known threatened or endangered species are known to inhabit the site.
5. Fish Resources
Rainbow and brown trout are commonly found in the Arkansas River and its tributaries.
6. General Effects of the Operation on the Existing Wildlife of the Area
Due to the hydrologic controls on sediment and any other types of water contamination, such as
spills and leaks, all waters downstream will not be affected by the operation. Pre-permit lands
were primarily a wasteland of abrupt slopes of bare gravel, past mining cuts, with no topsoil or
vegetation. The reclamation plan proposed here will serve to increase wildlife use of the area by
providing wetlands, revegetated open space areas and better sediment control for downstream
flows. However, resident wildlife will generally become habituated to these activities. Migrating
Box Creek Placer Mine Grq;1e ickt and A&w iafm PLIA
September 2018 H-1
