Box 1488 <br />Paonia, CO 81428 <br />October 9, 2018 <br />Re: Third Quarter 2018 Sediment Pond Inspection Review <br />Dear Mr. Bear: <br />The Division received the third quarter 2018 quarterly sediment pond inspection reports for the <br />Bowie No. 1 Mine (C1981-038) on October 9, 2018. <br />All four of the ponds were dry at the time of the inspection, and no maintenance concerns were <br />noted. All four ponds were inspected on September 12, 2018. <br />The Division conducted an inspection of the Bowie No. 1 Mine on September 20, 2018. The <br />Division noted that a willow was growing close to the primary spillway of Pond WM W-2 and <br />needs to be cut down. Many willows have become established in the bottom of the Load out <br />pond that also need to be cut down this winter. All other observation on September 20, 2018 <br />regarding the Bowie No. 1 sediment ponds are in agreement with the 3rd quarter sediment pond <br />report submitted by Bowie Resources, LLC. <br />Thank you for your timely submittal of the reports. <br />Sincerely, <br />Janet H.
