Exhibit H : Wildlife Information
Section 6.4.8 lists the wildlife information needed for the application. This information is provided
below.
1. BMS is including in this exhibit a description of the game and non-game resources on and in the
vicinity of the application area, including:
a. a description of the significant wildlife resources on the affected land. The attached
Biological Resource Review prepared by TRC describes significant wildlife resources,
including special status species and migratory birds, on and in the vicinity of the
application area.
b. seasonal use of the area. The application area may be used by a variety of mammals,
including mule deer, white-tailed deer, and pronghorn antelope, and birds, including
songbirds and raptors, throughout the year. Mule deer severe winter range occurs in
the northeastern portion of the application area, and a mule deer winter concentration
area occurs immediately southeast of the application area. Pronghorn winter range
occurs in the lower half of the application area and a pronghorn winter concentration
area occurs immediately west of the application area. No bald or golden eagle winter
roosts or nest sites are known to occur in the area.
c. the presence and estimated population of threatened or endangered species from
either federal or state lists. The attached Biological Resource Review prepared by TRC
describes special status species on and in the vicinity of the application area. Five
federally listed species could be indirectly affected by the Project if water-related
activities or use would occur; however, anticipated project water use is not known at
this time. No other federally-listed species are likely to be affected by Project
implementation.
The attached Biological Resource Review includes the Colorado Parks and Wildlife
Threatened and Endangered Species List, which identifies 31 state-listed threatened and
endangered species including 1 amphibian, 8 birds, 14 fish, and 8 mammals. Given the
moderate complexity of this effort, a habitat suitability analysis was not performed for
all 31 state-listed species. Surveys indicate that western burrowing owl, listed by the
USFWS as a Bird of Conservation Concern and by the state of Colorado as threatened,
occurs in the application area.
Consultation with the CPW will be required to obtain a Project-specific State-listed and
Endangered Species list, and to determine if habitat surveys, avoidance, or minimization
measures would be required.
a description of the general effects during and after the proposed operation on the
existing wildlife of the area, including but not limited to temporary and permanent
loss of food and habitat, interference with migratory routes, and the general effect on
wildlife from increased human activity, including noise. The attached Biological
