Randall, Executive Director | Virginia Brannon, Director 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 October 3, 2018 Howard Strand Office of Surface Mining Western Region 1999 Broadway, Suite 3320 Denver, CO 80202 Re: Bowie No. 1 Mine (Permit No. C-1981-038) Technical Revision Application No. 64 (TR-64) Reclamation Plan, West Mine Pond Removal Dear Mr. Strand: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on October 3, 2018, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 1 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. In accordance with Stipulation No. 59, Bowie Resources, LLC has provided reclamation plans for the removal of ponds W-1 and W-2 at the West Mine. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles North of Paonia. The permit area is further described as follows: In all or portions of the following: Sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, and 25 Township 13 South, Range 92 West of the 6th P.M. and Sections 17, 18, 19, 29, 30, 31, and 32 of Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map(s): Gray Reservoir, Bowie.
