The North Thompson Creek Mine is a
reclaimed underground mine. As such, no mine personnel remain on site. The remaining structures consist of
water develpment ponds, impoundments and ditches.

The weather was hot and very dry, and partly cloudy. A small cattle drive was in progress when the inspector was
passing Crystal River Ranch. Runners were running the County road during the inspection. Aspen leaves were
beginning to turn yellow high on the ridge, but lower at the mine area, the leaves remained green.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1):
Records for the mine are kept off site at the Garfield County Courthouse in Glenwood Springs, Colorado,
at the Clerk and Recorder’s office. Minrec needs to update files for second quarter reports, as described on the
Availability of Records form. Updated Certificate of Insurance is needed to be filed.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9;
Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The pond system was functioning as designed. Clear water was flowing into the west end of the long
pond from both pipes. The pipe over the creek from the reclaimed portal is holding up well, in spite of the bridge
degrading further. Pond weeds and cattails are well established in the long pond and appear to effectively act as
filters. No iron staining was evident in the Long Pond. Water leaving the east end of the long pond was clear. T-1
pond contains a fair amount of cattails. These cattails are well away from the inlet and do not impede the function
of this pond. T-2 pond contains cattails, but was functioning appropriately. The water in T-2 was clear. Pond P-9
had fewer cattails and more open water. This pond held clear water as well. Flow from pond P-9 was observed in
the ditch to the refuse pond. The water system appears to be working as designed. No problems were noted at the
ponds, or at the channels between the ponds.

No water was being discharged to North Thompson Creek.
