11 September 2018 C-1981-010/Trapper Mine RAR

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1

This was a partial inspection of the Trapper Mine; C1981010, operated by Trapper Mining Inc.
The inspection was conducted and the report prepared by me, Robin Reilley of the DRMS. Billy
Nicholson, Trapper Mine representative was present throughout the inspection. Skies were clear
and temperatures near 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The day was dry and windy. This inspection
included measuring topsoil depths at 11 points in the 2018laydown area. Overburden, ash and
coal were being hauled, water trucks were operating wetting road surfaces. Two drag lines: the
Baby Doe and the Queen Ann were casting spoil while the Molly Brown was idle. Stripping of
vegetation was occurring on eastern edge of permit boundary. Due to steepness in some areas
topsoil salvage will be reduced due to the danger of operating equipment on steep slopes.

OUTSTANDING MAINTENANCE
ITEMS: Culverts
Previous inspections identified the
following abraded culverts: SA2,
SA4A, SA7 and AE11. Culverts are
scheduled for replacement during
shutdown at end of September when
coal hauling stops temporarily for
maintenance activities at the power
generating station.
NEW MAINTENANCE ITEMS:
DRMS noted exposed erosion control
fabric where armoring had been
displace and recommends that
additional armoring be placed on the
outlet channel at Middle Flume Pond

Photo 1: Armoring needed to stabilize Middle Flume #3
channel.

INSPECTION:
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:

Photo 2: Stripping line and topsoil salvage
area at eastern edge of permit area.

Photo 3: Draglines operating casting spoil.
Photo is taken looking west, south west.
