Two piezometers are located on the meadow at the Douglas Mountain Mine. These wells are
represented as drillholes TH-4, and TH-5 in the drilling data in Appendix 3. Recent sampling at
these wells confirmed the levels identified by Deere and Ault in 2009. TH-4 had a groundwater
depth of 106', and TH-5 had a groundwater depth of 99'.
4. Water Consumption for the Operation and Water Rights
The Douglas Mountain Ranch Mine will use water at approximately the annual rates shown in
Table G-1. These are based on production estimates of 1 million tons a year. The Operator may
implement production at a different rate, typically less, or utilize different strategies for material
processing that necessitate different water consumption rates. Water will be supplied via either
ditch rights or onsite wells.
Douglas Mountain Ranch & Preserve owns a water right on Bard Creek,to the west, that may be
used for the operation. A copy of the decree for this right is located in Appendix 4, along with
legal support for its use in a sand and gravel operation. However, since this water right is
relatively junior(1997), the operator will also engage in a water contract with the local reservoir
via a Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP)to ensure adequate water supply for the operation
throughout its life. Prior to the beginning of mining, the operator will provide proof of the SWSP
and water supply to the Division for its records.
Table G-1 Mining Water Consumption
Annual Water Consumption
Dust control 14 1 Ac-ft
Crushing and Screening 7 Ac-ft
Wash Plant 7 Ac-ft
Total 28 Ac-ft
5. Floodplain
A portion of the mining will take place within the 100-YR floodplain. This will be in the latter
years of mining, as shown on Map C-2B. The floodplain in this area is Zone A, and therefore
there are no FEMA mapped base flood elevations. The mining operation will not create a pit or
DLVL R /1 l.n;L wi.Ai and tssurn lrs.I'I t l
September 2018 G-4 J 1
