PERMIT#: M-2018-011
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: September 6,2018
OBSERVATIONS
This was a surety release inspection conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS, accompanied by permittee
representative Mike Volosin of Ames Construction. Because a 111 permit cannot be amended to add
additional affected area, this 111 permit replaced the previous 111 Horton's Borrow permit (M2017-053)
when expansion of the mined area was needed. The initial Horton's Borrow permit will be released so that
the affected area is not covered by overlapping reclamation permits.
Ames Construction requested release of the Front Range Feedlot Borrow 2 permit on August 24, 2018 and
DRMS sent out release notification letters as required on August 28, 2018. To date no comments or
objections have been received. The approved reclamation plan for the site is for an irrigation recharge pond
(unlined but sloped excavation) surrounded by the approved reclamation vegetation consisting primarily of
rangeland grasses.
During the release inspection it was noted although the earthwork has been completed, no topsoil has been
replaced surrounding the recharge pond, and no seeding has taken place (see photos 1-4). DRMS will deny
the release request at this time because the approved reclamation has not been completed as approved. The
area surrounding the recharge pond should be ripped, topsoil will need to be replaced, and seeding and
mulching will need to be completed as described in the approved reclamation plan.
Inspection Contact Address
Mike Volosin
Ames Construction, Inc.
18450 E.28th Ave
Aurora,CO 80011
Enclosure: SLO1 Denial Letter
