PERMIT#: M-2016-041
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: September 6,2018
OBSERVATIONS
This was a surety release inspection conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS, accompanied by permittee
representative Mike Volosin of Ames Construction. The Front Range Feed Lot Borrow site is an 8 acre 111
permit that was approved in August 2016.
Ames Construction requested release of the Front Range Feed Lot Borrow permit on August 24, 2018 and
DRMS sent out release notification letters as required on August 28, 2018. To date no comments or
objections have been received. The approved reclamation plan for the Front Range Feed Lot Borrow permit is
rangeland.
During the release inspection it was noted that although the earthwork has been completed as required, very
little, if any, reclamation vegetation was present (see photos 1-4). There was evidence (hoof-prints and
manure) that the area was recently heavily overgrazed by cattle. Any reclamation vegetation that was
previously present is now gone, and the entire permit area will need to be reseeded and mulched and
reclamation vegetation established before the remaining permit (M2018-011) can be released. Unless an
agreement can be reached with the landowner to not graze the permit area until the site is released, Ames
will also need to consider fencing out cattle to preserve the reclamation vegetation.
The permit identification sign and appropriate boundary markers will also need to be replaced for the Front
Range Feedlot Borrow permit and maintained until the permit is terminated.
Inspection Contact Address
Mike Volosin
Ames Construction, Inc.
18450 E.28th Ave.
Aurora,CO 80011
Enclosure: SLO1 Denial Letter
