Spring 2018 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
South of Divide and Dry Fork Mininq Areas
Figure 1. Northwestward view during our spring 2018 field visit of the exposed
bedrock on the north side of the E7-10 MVB pad showing sandstone rubble that
had fallen from the outcrop that was likely a result of longwall mining beneath this
area.
In addition, a nearly continuous 90 -foot -long set of differential settlement cracks (bearing
approximately N5°W) was observed at the southeastern portion of the pad, south of the pump
trailer (Figure 2). These settlement cracks had a maximum dimension of 1 inch in width and 6
inches in depth. A 30 -foot -long subsidence crack was also observed on the pad near the northwest
corner with maximum dimensions of 2 inches in width and 4 inches in depth (Figure 3).
831-032.900 Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
