(TC), DRMS Permit
No. C-1982-056. Tabetha Lynch with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division)
conducted the ground inspection on 08/15/2018. The weather was clear and warm. All areas of the mine were
accessible during the inspection. This inspection observed a portion of the surface water monitoring program for
the Foidel Creek Mine. Operator noted that an underground vault had been found in the shop area in the region of
the main facilities. The contents were sampled and sent to a lab to analyze the oil like contents. The operator
stated that they will likely have a removal company remove contents to barrels and take off site for disposal and
follow EPA guidelines to close the vault.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:

This partial inspection observed surface water sampling of a portion of the monitoring plan. The sites observed are
listed below. Water levels were lower than usual for this time of year.

Temp, pH, and conductivity are the field parameters taken. The meter was calibrated before leaving the facilities
office.

Pond B was one the sample list but was not discharging.

Pond A was sampled as upstream for Foidel, this is the sampling location used when Foidel Creek is not flowing
above the mine. This was Site 800, which is sampled monthly, list 51. The flow was read from the flume at 0.2,
which appeared to be in good condition. Five bottles were filled, acid preservative was in 2, and one is labeled
for lab filter. The operator stated that generally the bottles go to the lab the same day, or sometimes the next if
it is large samples set. They have a 6 day hold time. ACZ in Steamboat is the lab used for analysis. The bottles are
taken directly to the lab.
