Project Title: <br />A Cultural Resource Historic Properties Treatment Plan for Site BK -2- <br />062518 as part of Colowyo Coal Company's Collom Expansion Project, <br />Moffat County, Colorado <br />Agency(-ies): <br />Office of Surface Mining and Enforcement (OSMRE); Colorado Division <br />of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS), and Office of Archaeology <br />and Historic Preservation (OAHP) <br />Tetra Tech No.: <br />117-8108001 <br />Site Location: <br />The site discovery is located within the northeastern quarter of Section <br />21 of T4N, R93W, 6t' Principal Meridian (7.5' USGS quadrangle Axial, <br />Colorado (2000)). <br />Landownership: <br />Privately Held <br />Abstract: <br />The Colowyo Coal Company (Colowyo) is constructing the facilities <br />associated with their Collom Expansion Project (the Project). As part of <br />the Project Tetra Tech has been contracted to provide Archaeological <br />Monitoring services for Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation (Elk Ridge) on <br />behalf of Colowyo. The archaeological monitoring has been conducted in <br />accordance with Exhibit 5, Item 3 -Cultural Resource Protection Plan <br />(Plan) for the Collom Mine Expansion filed by Colowyo to the Office of <br />Surface Mining, Reclamation, and Enforcement (OSMRE) as part of their <br />mine permit. The current cultural resource monitoring is being executed <br />in conformance to the HPA Monitoring section outlined in the Plan. <br />The following Historic Properties Treatment Plan (HPTP) was developed <br />in response to a prehistoric site (Site BK -2-062518) discovery on June <br />25, 2018. The site cannot be avoided by the Project and faces complete <br />removal. The HPTP outlines a research design that will direct data <br />recovery measures and outlines the data recovery methodology that will <br />be employed to collect data in support of the research design. <br />
