Refuse Disposal Area
• Construction work at the refuse disposal area has been conducted since
the requirements for salvaging topsoil were implemented. A topsoil
stockpile has been established adjacent to the area on the east near
the lower end. This stockpile is posted with a sign and will be main-
tained and protected in accordance with the regulations. The stock-
pile holds between 1,000 and 2,000 cu. yds. of material.
Samples 1 and 2 (described below) were taken from the refuse disposal
area.
Mining Areas
Samples were taken at five locations within the mine area. All
samples came from disturbed areas, the disturbances ranging from very
severe, such as in the middle of a maintenance area, to not severe,
such as from a road cut bank which was well vegetated.
• Sampling Notes
Sample 1. East side of refuse disposal area, 0 to 6 inches. Forty
degree westfacing slope, channery surface, 20 inches to 40 inches to
shale. Some 0-horizon (duff) pre-
sent under conifer stand. Topsoil depth to about 10 inches, a little
deeper where slope levels out.
C~
3-102
