• 3.8 SOILS RESOURCES INFORMATION
3.8.1 MINE
General
Surface facilities at the mine area have existed for more than two
decades. The naturally existing soils at the site have long since
been modified by disturbance and are no longer recognizable.
The Reclamation Plan for the mine provides for grading and recon-
touring of the area and direct revegetation of the disturbed media.
These media are quite variable in their severity of disturbance.
Interim reclamation plantings at the mine have indicated reasonable
potential for successful revegetation for some areas.
At the request of the Division of Mined Land Reclamation during the
• review of the Amendment Application which was approved under the
Interim Regulatory Program, samples were taken of the surface media
from various locations around the mine and refuse disposal areas.
Laboratory analyses were performed in order to diagnose any potential
problems for revegetation.
Samples were taken at several locations, noted on Drawings D-3-4 and
D-3-5. Particulars noted in the field for each location are included
below. All samples are composite surface samples. The lower limit of
sampling depths varied with location and each is individually noted.
The samples were air dried after they were taken from the field. They
were sent to the Colorado State University Testing Lab in Ft. Collins
for analysis. Sampling was conducted on August 8, 1980. Results of
the analyses are shown in Table 3.8.1-1.
i
3-100
