to these standards and the EPA drinking water standards, all values of the moni-
tored parameters are within the standards except copper.
The water type on the Roaring Fork is calcium-bicarbonate sulphate. The high
copper values that were observed on North Thompson and Middle Thompson Creeks
are not as common on the Roaring Fork. Copper concentrations exceeded the CDOH
aquatic life standard only once, occurring on September 29, 1980. Copper
concentrations have not exceeded this standard since that time. Figure
3.6.2.2-1, observed copper concentration verses time, shows observed con-
centrations at both sampling locations.
Figure 3.6.2.2-2 presents a graph of zinc values versus time. The pattern shown
is typical of most of the parameters monitored on the Roaring Fork. Most of the
parameters are present at times but the concentrations are sporadic and are
below all standards. The water quality does not change from the upstream site
to the downstream site. The loadout facility has little or no impact on water
quality.
CJ

3-92
