• 3.6.2 LOADOUT
The main portion of the loadout was located north and east of the
Roaring Fork River. This area was where the trains were actually
loaded with coal. This land is know as the Diamond A Parcel. The
DMG approved TR-12 on March 6, 1992 which approved the Diamond A
Parcel for post-mining land uses falling within residential and
industrial land use classification so the Diamond A Parcel could be
incorporated into a residential community with a golf course and
related retail establishments.
About September of 1993 work began to develop the Diamond A Parcel
into a residential community with a golf course. Work on the
development continues as of April 1996.
The Daimond A Parcel was removed from the permit by the DMG's
approval of TR-15 on February 1, 1994.
3.6.2.1 Ground Water
The loadout facility is adjacent to the Roaring Fork River,
• approximately 1 mile downstream from the confluence with the
Crystal River.
A test hole {L-1) was drilled at the loadout site in May, 1980.
The water table was encountered at 36.3 feet below ground surface.
Lithology ranges from medium to coarse sand to boulders, but the
producing zone consists of well-sorted, rounded to subrounded
gravel (Appendix 3-R).
Water Quality
Water samples were collected from 3 monitor wells since 1980.
Samples were collected from two private wells, L-1 and L-2 in
addition to L-3 which is at the loadout facility and is monitored.
The monitoring wells were all located on the Diamond A Parcel so
they are no longer monitored. See pages 3-61 and 3-86 for the
current monitoring requirements.
• 3-87 Rev. 04-13-96
