Regional General Permit Notification for Grisenti Farms Gravel Pit Bank Stabilization Project
Fremont County,Colorado
Corps File No.RGP-37
Avoidance and Minimization of Impacts
Efforts would be made to minimize impacts on the streambed and existing woody vegetation to the
maximum extent possible;however, due to the primary purpose of the project(channel improvements),
impacts on waters of the U.S.are unavoidable. Measures that would be implemented during
construction to help minimize impacts on vegetation include installing temporary fencing to define
construction limits and deterring access into areas that are not to be impacted.
In addition to avoiding and minimizing direct impacts, water quality Best Management Practices(BMPs)
would be implemented during construction to minimize indirect impacts on the stream channel and
adjacent areas. Standard BMPs such as the use of sediment-control logs, construction limits staking and
fencing, and vehicle tracking control at the site entrance would be implemented.
Best Management Practices
In addition to minimizing impacts during the design process, standard water quality BMPs would be
established and maintained during construction to minimize the potential of sediment reaching areas
outside the project area. All temporarily disturbed areas would be returned to pre-project conditions
following completion of the proposed activities.
Mitigation
Transit Mix is not proposing specific compensatory wetland mitigation because less than 0.10 acre of
wetlands would be impacted by the proposed project.
Compliance with Nationwide and Regional Permit Conditions
As proposed, the project would comply with all general and regional conditions associated with current
nationwide and regional permits. Of particular relevance, no habitat for threatened or endangered
species occurs in the project area in compliance with General Condition 18 and the ESA;and Transit Mix
is currently unaware of any historic properties listed on,determined to be eligible for listing on,or
potentially eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in compliance with General
Condition 20 and the NHPA. Specific to RGP-37,an average of 0.66 cubic yard per running foot of fill
would be placed within the channel below the OHWM for installation of the bank protection in the
project area. Additionally, the cross vanes would be installed at an angle of 30 degrees upstream
perpendicular to the stream bank.
ERO Project#7141 10
16
