Please provide as much detail as possible. It is important to narrow down the issue(s).
This is a formal complaint of what we have witnessed in violation of the mining Permit M1986102 for
Reclamation Ridge Pit.
Attached are several pictures for Reclamation Ridge Gravel Pit.
On several occasions, the dust directly from the gravel pit have made it impossible for my family and I to go
outside our house or even open the windows. Some days the combination of the noise and the dust seems
unbearable. The pictures below do not reflect times when the wind is significantly blowing making conditions
even worse.
The gravel pit has a total disregard for their mining permit on July 10, 2018 Mr. Evans in a meeting with the
Town of Granby Board of Trustees stated that he has water rights (shared water) that he has to use or lose. I
can't find that Mr. Evans nor Reclamation Ridge has any water rights. Where is the water coming from that Mr.
Evans stated he is watering his crushers and material with? Mr. Evans also stated at the meeting that during
mining the material is wet. I'm not sure how this is possible without hitting ground water. There are 3
monitoring wells that are to be monitored on a regular basis to make sure the surrounding domestic water
wells are not affected. However, the reports never have a company name and I'm not sure they are really
being monitored. My fear is to wake up one morning and have no water.
Furthermore, at the end of County Road 613 on Lot 4 of the Great Divide Head Lettuce Subdivision,
appro>amately three Earth movers have been placed since May of 2018. This provides additional complaints
this lot is out of the permitted area of the mine. They have constructed a huge berm on Lot 4 and are storing
material and equipment on this lot. The berm was constructed with material from the Reclamation Ridge
material.
Attached are two videos from this evening June 12, 2018 at 6.00 pm. Sorry these video's are mp4 is there an
email they can be sent to? These videos provide additional evidence of the dust and noise the gravel pit
emits which was mentioned in above paragraphs. Which provides additional evidence of the combination of
the dust and noise the gravel pit emits.
Also Mr. Evans stated on July 10, 2018 at the Town of Granby Board of Trustees that even when he reclaims
the pit if material is left over he will sell the material as a landscaping business. I was unaware that this can be
done once the pit has been reclaimed?
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
Kind Regards,
Bill Hansen
Have you contacted the operator or party conducting the operation? If so,
please provide details. *
r Yes r No
Details
A formal complain by email was sent on June 12, 2018 to the Town of Granby. A briefing of the complaint was
discussed by Mr. Evans only no public comments were permitted. A meeting has been scheduled with the
Town of Granby Board of Trustees regarding the complaints of the surrounding neighbors for dust, water,
and noise for August 28, 2018.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
