RECEIVED
JUL 0 3 2018
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
June 27. 2018 M1IQgGAND,3AFEry
Mr. Peter S. Hays AGGREGATE
Division of Reclamation,Mining& Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 INDUSTRIES
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Permit No. M-2004-051 —Wattenberg Lakes - Groundwater Concerns
Dear Peter:
As discussed at the meeting Aggregate Industries and Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety representatives had on May 17, 2018, Aggregate has had communication with some
neighbors near its Wattenberg Lakes sand and gravel mining operations regarding groundwater
concerns, as follows:
Carl Eiberger
On March 9, 2018, you sent an e-mail to me advising that Carl Eiberger contacted the Division
inquiring about an Aggregate Industries contact for well impacts around the Wattenberg Lakes
site. I sent an e-mail to and had a phone call with Mr. Eiberger that day. He was specifically
concerned about water level in his ski lake which is located south of the mining operation.
Aggregate representatives and Mr. Eiberger met on site on March 14. In conjunction with Mr.
Eiberger, Aggregate developed various solutions and settled on running a line off of its
dewatering line to the ski lake.
Property owner Peter Baurer, who owned the property north of Mr. Eiberger and who jointly
held an interest in the ski lake, would not allow Aggregate to cross his property with the water
line; however, Aggregate closed on purchase of the Baurer property on May 81h, which enabled
Aggregate to proceed with running the dewatering line to the ski lake.
Aggregate coordinated with Division of Water Resources regarding dewatering to the ski lake
and they required a flow meter and inspection which occurred on May 25. Aggregate started
running water to the ski lake on May 25 and Mr. Eiberger's concern has been mitigated.
Royce and Tobbi Monroe
Mr. Monroe contacted Aggregate on or about May 2, 2018 regarding concerns with his domestic
well, which he uses to irrigate his lawn areas. I met with him that day at his home to discuss and
Aggregate Industries
West Central Region,Inc.
1687 Cole Boulevard,Suite 300
Golden,CO 80401
Telephone:303-985-1070 An Equal Opportunity Employer
