ClCdF CFeek County
POST OFFICE BOX 2000
GEORGETOWN, COLORADO 80444
•.atoRa;.••
'•••" TELEPHONE: (303) 679-2300
29 May 2018
Mr. Michael Cunningham R_ECEFJVLJ J
Colorado Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Rm 215 3, 0 4 0
Denver, CO 80203 r R, %
RE: Lombard#4+5, File No. M-2018-012
Clear Creek County is in receipt of the Notice for Consideration of 110(1)Hard Rock Reclamation Permit
Application for the above reference site and Staff has the following questions and comments on the
Limited Impact Operation Reclamation Permit Application;
1. The owner of said property is the U.S. Forest Service. Has the USFS consented to or approved
this application?
2. What is the access route that the applicant intends to take? We understand that access and traffic
comments are typically addressed by local governments, but Clear Creek County needs to know
what the access is in order to be able to address it.
3. Page 3, Section 12: Primary future land use: the applicant has checked"solid waste disposal
(WD)". The applicant should be aware that said property is not zoned for a solid waste disposal
site. Are there plans that further discuss post-mining use?
4. The Reclamation Plan Map indicates tailings on the map next to the reclamation area. Will the
tailings be disturbed in the operation? What will otherwise happen to the tailings? Will they be
cleaned up or mitigated?
5. Exhibit D—Reclamation Plan, Item 2: requires a general description of how the mined area will
be reclaimed. There is no answer for this question except that the response is"currently
grassland with a few trees". Therefore, how will the mined area be reclaimed?
6. Exhibit D—Reclamation Plan,Item 3 asks what the final grade of the reclaimed slopes will be
and if the proposed slopes are steeper than 3H: 1 V, a justification must be included. The
applicant has responded 1H: 0.5V with no justification. What is the justification for these slopes?
"Honoring Our Past, While Designing Our Future"
